HISTORY

Haydarpaşa Soldier Hospital was built on the will of Sultan Abdülmecid for the construction of a hospital in the Selimiye winter area in 1844 and was completed in 1845 and allowed to admit patients in 1846. In 1912, the first modern Ear Nose Throat branch was established in our hospital. Since 1 October 1985, the hospital has started to give service by taking the name of "Gülhane Military Medical Academy Haydarpaşa Education Hospital" and has started to give specialist training since then. Our clinic, which serves the historical center in 1985, has been moved to the place where it still serves as the internal disease building in 1989 and has started to serve in the new surgical center since 2006. In 2016 our hospital is in the body of the Ministry of Health T.C. Having been linked to the Health Sciences University, the name has been changed to Sultan Abdülhamid Han Training and Research Hospital. Our clinic has graduated 40 specialist doctors until this day.

EAR NOSE THROAT DISEASE CLINIC

Our clinic continues to work with 1 professor, 1 associate professor and 7 specialist doctors. In our 18-bed clinic, which is an audiologist, 3 audiometrist and 6 nurses, approximately 30.000 policlinic examinations, 10.000 odiovestibular tests are performed, 1200 patients are inpatient and 1000 patients are operated. The rooms are for 1, 2 and 4 persons and all rooms have TV, fridge, air conditioner, bathroom-wc.

EDUCATION AND OPERATIONS

Seminars and literature are held in two days of the week and case presentations are held in one day. Endoscopic sinus surgery, balloon sinotomy and radiofrequency surgery are routinely performed in our clinic, and specialist training is given in these clinics 5 days a week for head and neck cancer surgeries, septorinoplasty, snoring surgery, endolaringeal microsurgery, ear surgery, navigation accompanied endoscopic sinus surgery. In addition, dacryocystorhinostomy operations are performed jointly with endoscopic pituitary surgery and eye diseases clinic jointly with the neurosurgery clinic.
